I’m booking marking this post for whenever I feel the least bit shitty because girl, you captured it well. Thank you for so eloquently putting my thoughts and feelings into words and injecting your Katie Katie wisdom into the mix and educating me about how to deal with my own culture shock, even a month in. Thank you thank you.

Katie!! I love how real you are. Definitely how I have been feeling too. You took the words right out of my mouth!

Jon with XploreAsia shared this blog post recently. I just got my placement town and am feeling pretty much everything you described. I found myself nodding along and saying yes to it all! Right now I’m in a cafe across from my apartment working on my Day 1 lesson plan and freaking the fuck out! I’m not even sure where my school is. And the other English teacher isn’t getting here until the day before school starts. What in the world! But I’ve got to push through and figure this shit out for myself. While culture shock is no fun, I am thankful for this blog post and to know that I’m not alone!

I’m so glad that reading this was able to help! I know how overwhelming everything can be! Good luck- you’re going to kill it!! Feel free to email me or anything if you want to chat about anything. It was extremely helpful to me to be able to talk to people who actually knew what I was going through. katie.johnson321@gmail.com
