Madeira Islands, Portugal
Madeira Cristiano Ronaldo Airport is on the eastern part of the island in Santa Cruz and is about a 20 min drive to the capital city of Funchal. There are also public transport options to get into the city. Porto Santo Airport is on the nearby island of Porto Santo.
There is a ferry between Porto Santo and Funchal and cruise ships dock at Funchal.
There are no other options in getting to the island. Once here you can take public transit to some main points around the island, but the best way to get around is by car. Whether its hiring a taxi or renting a car, this will give you much more flexibility during your stay.
Whale & Dolphin Watching
Such a fun activity that I ended up doing it twice! If you can try to do it early in the trip so in the off chance that you don’t see anything you’re able to reschedule for another day. My face hurt from smiling so much. Really, really amazing.
H2O Madeira – A great company! Had an awesome experience with them. Not the best option if you don’t have a car to get to them though.
Rota dos Cetaceos – Another awesome company and right in downtown Funchal so no transportation necessary!
